Gullane 17th May 2013

The Homers head golfing society enjoyed an excellent evening on the links over Gullane no3 this evening. In unexpectedly balmy conditions and glorious sunshine there were some fine scores posted. Absent friends were sorely missed but I'm sure it will not be long before we make a return to the fine turf of sunny Gullane.

We retired to the Old Clubhouse to chew over the scores and beermat the h'caps prior to the next outing. As follows:

Bryce  32 points off 13
Prosser 33 points off 22
Allingham  39 points off 11
Lowe  33 points off 20
Enos  31 points off 20
MacFarlane  30 points off 22
Appleson  32 points off 21

Tonight's winner was probably the course followed by the weather but in 3rd place and a worthy wearer of the medal of honour was Mr Allingham. Well done Allers majestic to behold.

Bruntsfield  3rd May

Started wet, got wetter, finished wet. 'This is shit, i'm soaking, I can't hold the club, everything is slicing off the the left.' Those words, spoken by one of our number on the 15th tee, will stay with your correspondent for a long time. However, as the rain came down, Jarrold just got better and better, this is a man one would follow out of the trenches. 35 points led to a win and a slashing of 3 from his handicap. Bryce plays worse on booze, note to all.

Bruntsfield 26th April

This was an afternoon for heroes.........and men with waterproofs. The auspices were not good, Mr Enos using his phone in the club house leading to apologies being made and explanations that he was a beneficiary of the 'Make a Wish Foundation' being given. The round started with the first bathed in sunlight and ended with the four horseman galloping their way in from East Lothian and up the seventeenth. By the 3rd, the hail had arived, greens were slow and bumpy then flat and slippery. Lesser 8s would have turned in, this 8 were the only golfers out come 7.30. Shot of the day, in the opinion of this correspondent, was a Murray 3 wood from the fairway of the long 14th, soaring and majestic. Ultimately Enos and Mair shared the medals (on order), but no one would claim to have made an unequivocal statement in the battle for the Summer Tankard (on order), particularly with two of our biggest guns, Lowe and Bryce, taking to the tee for the first time tomorrow.  Appleson and Enos had 2 taken of their handicaps, and Mair 1
